May 26, 2012 – Baltimore, MD
Kansas City Royals’s Eric Hosmer hit a rare double despite the ball not even reaching the outfield.
Batting in the 7th inning, Hosmer hit a slow roller towards third. Baltimore Orioles third baseman Wilson Betemit gambled that it would roll foul, but it did not. By the time Betemit picked up the ball, Hosmer had steamed into second base with a standup double.
That hit became key as Humberto Quintero followed with an outfield double down the left field line, scoring Hosmer and tying the score at three.
Kansas would score the winning run the next inning on yet another Hosmer hit, an RBI single to left field.
