Rangers Bedeviled in New Jersey

May 21, 2012 – Newark, New Jersey

The New Jersey Devils offense overwhelmed Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist as Bryce Salvador and Travis Zajac scored within 4 minutes in the first period to give the Devils a lead they would never lose, as they won 4-1 and evened the Eastern Conference Finals at 2 games apiece.

Emotions spilled out onto the ice when Devils goalie Mike Brodeur was sucker-punched by Mike Rupp. Fights broke out, players punched each other and the two coaches got into a yelling match. Mike Rupp and Stu Bickel of the Rangers and Ryan Carter of the Devils were all given 10-minute misconduct penalties in the third period.

Game 5 goes back to Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 23 in what is now a best of three series.
