Los Angeles can exhale, finally.
One of its teams is going to the finals. After seeing their NBA basketball postseason end with a combined record of 1-8 between the Clippers and Lakers, the Kings defeated the Coyotes in overtime of Game 5 of the Western Conference finals.
Dustin Penner scored 17:42 into overtime setting off a joyous celebration as his teammates mobbed him.
Both goalies were outstanding and many chances were lost, especially power plays. The Kings even scored a short-handed goal.
The Kings won four games to one, making their first trip to the Stanley Cup playoffs since 1993.
