May 22, 2012 – Miami, FL
The Miami Heat turned on the afterburners in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals and left the Indiana Pacers choking on basketball smoke with a 115-83 annihilation. Forward Lebron James put in 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while guard Dwyane Wade had 28 points.
The Pacers shot poorly at 33% and with game-limiting injuries to Danny Granger (ankle) and David West (knee), they never challenged Miami.
The game was marred by several flagrant fouls, as tempers began to boil over.
Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough knocked Dwyane Wade to the ground, drawing blood in the process. Hansbrough was victimized less than a minute later by Udonis Haslem’s double-arm block. Haslem himself was bloodied in game 4. Miami’s Dexter Pittman planted an elbow into the face of Lance Stephenson at the end of the game.
Miami goes up 3 games to 2 in the best of 7 series as the teams return to Indianapolis for Game 6.
